At Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi, on 14 July 2026, the Hon. Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, Sunil Handunneththi, held productive meetings with Hon. Union Minister of Textiles of India Shri Giriraj Singh and Hon. Minister of State for Textiles & External Affairs of India Shri Pabitra Margherita.
The discussions focused on strengthening India–Sri Lanka cooperation in the textiles and apparel sector, promoting investment, enhancing value-chain linkages, and expanding opportunities for trade and industry collaboration, as well as capacity building.
With a globally recognised apparel manufacturing sector, a strong reputation for quality, sustainability and ethical production, and longstanding commercial partnerships with India, Sri Lanka is well positioned to further deepen collaboration across the textile and apparel value chain.
